Just kidding.
However, those of you who read regularly know that when we blog, we obviously blog about crimes that are terrible, or not getting enough attention, but more importantly, we like to underscore how our criminal justice system is unbalanced. In this case, the punishment does not fit the crime, relative to say, my own experience.
Attorney sentenced to six months for using foul language. Rapist William Beebe sentenced to ten years, serves less than six months. This is where we as a people need to have our say. I've said it over and over. Someone going to Federal prison for marijuana for 27 years is getting more sympathy from me than a rapist. When Michael Vick serves more time than a rapist for harming animals (and I love animals so very much), what does that say about our treatment of humans?

liz,
i beleive the reason for the disparity in sentencing is becuz, when crimes are committed against young children and animals, who are, of course, innocent and defenseless, there is simply no room whatsoever for "blaming the victim", or at least nowhere near as much.
but when it comes to *sexual* assaults against *women*, whether it be you, jennifer levin, or miss garza in your other blog above, some, if not many, people simply revert to a sexist/victorian/neanderthal mindset that has blames the woman and questions, e.g., what *she* was wearing, how *she* was acting, etc., which you yourself experienced.
progress *has* been made in both society in general and in the criminal justic system in particular in this regard over the past thirty-five years, e.g., in general, a woman's sexual history is no longer allowed as evidence in court to impugn her reputation! believe me, i remember how it used to be, and it was far worse than it is today!
in fact, in your case in particular the problem was *not* initially the criminal justice system, it was carnevari's (sp) cover-up! once your case finally did come to the attention of law enforcement after beebe wrote you that letter is when action was finally taken in the criminal justice system!
but clearly, there's more work to be done in enlightening people's attitudes, as evidenced by the lenient sentence beebe got!
