Isn't it interesting that so many in places of power and influence over children (priests, Scout leaders, teachers, etc) are the very ones committing unspeakable acts upon them? Is it chicken and egg? Or egg and chicken? I, for one, want to believe the adults in my child's life at school, camp, ballet, etc. want what's best for her.
Howard Curtis blames his rape of this child on his alcoholism. Go figure.
This sick ticket pled guilty. The victim was not in the courtroom, but you can see his life has been a life broken, of less promise. He submitted a Victim Impact Statement which I hope the Judge read. I'd like to know what Howard Curtis was thinking when he videotaped the rape and also, when his wife saw the tape, her reaction? The victim went to cops in 2006 when he was finally strong enough. Read the whole article - it's pretty amazing.
His attorney said: "I would suggest he is truly remorseful and is taking responsibility." Of course he did and of course he is. Puhleeze.
So to all the nasty folks who send me mail about "Hey; it's been 20 years, what are you bitching about, you lying whore?"...here's another answer, another person who didn't give up. Be well, Mr. Pettengill. You are my hero.
