I've heard it all now!

As an event planner (which about 65% of the time means wedding planner), I've had my share of client drama. Yesterday, I saw this and about lost it. Note to folks getting married: hire a planner. $400K for "extreme disappointment, embarrassment and distress"? Elana (nee Elbogen) and David Glatt need to figure out their lives and priorities. Tobi Glatt sounds like a nightmare MIL as well. We are so blessed to have (mostly) lovely clients.

I come down strongly on the side of the floral designer - which, as a wedding planner, I am normally an advocate for the clients. So, the color was off a bit. I am sure it was in their contract that last-minute substitutions may need to be made. This is standard in the floral business due to availability. And, if the wedding was at Cipriani 42nd, the cost per head was about $450 for food and beverage alone. So, I guess they have bills to pay!

Honestly, these litigious leeches who want $400K because of all the distress and embarrassment (I'm sure the guests were ALL talking about how those flowers were pink and not rust) they were caused, should spend some of their legal talent helping rape and incest survivors on a pro bono basis. Only then will they realize what true "extreme emotional distress and embarassment" is.

If you are HAPPY with being in love and marrying that special someone, you won't care if something at your wedding goes wrong - 9 times out of 10, something will. Cakes fall, best men make tasteless toasts - even in the best worlds. It's interesting that this story is gaining some steam.

liz,

yep, this is ludicrous alright!

but earlier this year there was a case that was *beyond* ludicrous: a judge sued a dry cleaner for $65 *million* for losing his pants!:

And don't forget the guy who sued a florist (what's with florists?) for sending roses to his wife, rather than the intended recipient - his mistress. Dude was on the "Today" show and it was hilarious.
