And again.

What prosecutors seem to not comprehend is that the rape of an unconscious person is still a rape. What do you all think of this one? Pretty grim, huh? I always say, dropped charges don't mean it wasn't done.

You all do realize that no one like to smile and have fun as much as I do? My friends know I am gentle and happy. I fear that I seem bitter or hostile with some of these posts but this blog is about crime and punishment and/or the lack thereof and our frustration with some of the decisions made. One day, maybe I'll blog about butterflies. The point is; "say something". Don't be one of the sheeple. Say it proudly, without guile or pretense and stand for something. Be counted. Don't be so cautious. Learn from mistakes by admitting to them. I know I'm making an impact given that people send mail (lots of beautiful, a little horrible) - and whether they love or loathe, it means we make a difference, right? Never be afraid of the general public. It's a big world. Whether through your art, writing, speaking, music, love, family, sport, making of things with your hands, etc., you leave your impact to be felt by others. And that's pure magic.

I feel by putting this out into the world, maybe, just maybe, someone will understand and that light will click in some heads and say "Heyyyy - hell no, this isn't right. How do we make it so?". Not ranting; just saying.

All that said, this is a sick story. She probably got a cab to avoid some creepy stranger from assaulting her on the way home from the pub. This was her safety plan.

liz,

how in the world can the cabbie claim with a straight face that the woman consented to sex *when she was asleep*, for god sake!

bottom line: the cabbie is a lowlife, pure and simple!

i'm afraid that the non-prosecution of this pervert perp will send the wrong message and discourage other victims from coming forward!
