Terrible case made more terrible by rapist's HIV status

I found this case to be inordinately compelling and heartbreaking. Of course, the defense attorney called it "consensual sex". This victim has no memory (thank God) of the rape, but suffers from a seizure disorder and now, the knowledge of her rape and the legacy of HIV testing.

What do you all think of the defense? The plea bargain? The case? This has more arms than an octopus. I find it interesting in the comments that folks think he should get more time due to his HIV status. It's almost saying that rape itself isn't bad enough and I'm not sure I agree with that. My thoughts and good wishes go out to the victim in this case. I wish her hope, healing and strength.

Thoughts?
