Pow! Kaboom! "Dark Knight" alleged assault drama/curse of the "Batman" set?

I am filing this under "crime and punishment" as I am not a celeblogger like a certain chubby cipher with Easter egg-hued hair. But, I'm just saying, a certain Batman should be on top of the world in London at the UK premiere of "Dark Knight". Details are sketchy, but his mother and sister reported that Christian Bale assaulted them at their hotel, the Dorchester. That sounds insane, but I think that these folks on the press junket have been stressed out beyond belief with all of the pressure to be the #1 box office of all time (it is) and the death of their costar.

Oddly, we were having a conversation about Christian Bale the other day - how he's NEVER in the tabloids, never in trouble, married a civilian, has had a really rich and varied film career - who could forget him as a child actor in "Empire of the Sun", as Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho" and weighing in at 130 lbs. in "The Machinist"? Weird to think someone who's a seemingly private family man has (allegedly) assaulted the women in his family.

One woman he should never assault? Well, besides ANY....his stepmother. She's not having any of this. I really hope this is untrue; that said, I will not be at the movie theaters filling his pockets if he perpetuates violence against women.

The problem with cases and allegations like these, in all seriousness, is everyone will rush to defend him because he is so talented, good-looking, etc. Name one woman on a jury who'd convict him....yeah, I thought not. That said, I am sure fans are hoping it's a misunderstanding. Can't imagine how that works, but they are hoping, I'm sure.

UPDATE: Bale has just turned himself in and is being questioned now by London police - seems they let him go due to the premiere Sunday, so Bale was required to go in and be interviewed.

UPDATE: Bale has denied any wrongdoing and was not charged after his interview today. Check in with TMZ for updates. We are now hearing it was maybe verbal, maybe a "push" or a "brush"...seems a little bit melodramatic. And put it this way; the cops felt it was okay to wait two days to question Bale. I don't know.
