The Caylee Anthony case. Scratching head.

I don't like to jump on the bandwagon of people pointing fingers when family members "don't act right" on the boob tube. Shock will render people inappropriate sometimes. But, the Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, who is missing and whose mother Casey Anthony is behind bars for child neglect saddens me. This case is beyond bizarre and I cannot even define what is wrong. Simply put:

1) the child and her mother, Casey, lived with grandparents Cindy & George Anthony
2) Casey Anthony reported the child missing Wednesday, but no one has seen her for 5 weeks. The mom waited 5 weeks to report the child missing.
3) no one knows the identity of the child's father. Anthony claims he is "dead". The authorities are looking into that.
4) may I repeat? Casey and Caylee lived with her grandparents.
5) Casey told the Police, a babysitter, Zenaida Gonzalez, had the baby.
6) A search for this woman turned up a woman who has never heard of these people.
7) Casey told Police she dropped the baby at some apartment in the care of others. It has since been discovered that said apartment has been vacant for 5 months.
8) It seems Cindy and George don't even know what Casey does for a living. Nor is it clear in the media. She told Police she worked at Universal Orlando - once again, a lie.
9) Cindy & George Anthony say they believe their daughter and that Caylee is alive, yet won't offer details.
10) Jose Baez, attorney for Casey Anthony, will not allow Casey to speak with Police now until she is freed on bond. He won't speak with Police either.
11) Casey Anthony borrowed a giant shovel over a month ago - just saying.
12) It's possible that Casey Anthony has been threatened and that's why she is silent.
13) It's possible that Casey Anthony has suffered a psychotic break.

Jesus - I don't know. I don't want to try someone for lying, acting strangely and not showing appropriate emotion, but come on. Why is this child's mother lying to authorities and why do they stand for it? Why is this attorney, who claims to want to help, saying the child could be in Miami, New York or Chicago? Why are the grandparents so convinced the child is okay and yet, very upset with the disappearance? Where did Casey Anthony last have the child? The grandparents seem oddly emotionless and stilted (via their words, not demeanor). I would like to think something deeper is going on here and all of them are acting oddly because they've been instructed to by Caylee's abductor(s). Sadly, I just think they are a bunch of weirdos using the media to deflect attention from the obvious: make the mom talk.

I don't want to judge or assume this mother had anything to do with the young one's disappearance, but this is the weirdest "case" I've ever heard of. I don't even know how to classify it.

UPDATE: Casey Anthony due in court today for a bond hearing as she is hoping to be released. I will say that someone with no criminal record and this sort of charge is rarely held without bond, so, if they follow the law and not emotion, she should get bond. Apparently, she's been conducting "her own investigation" these past 5 weeks. Um, okay. Grandma says Casey knows where the child is; Jose Baez, the really really subpar attorney says his client has no idea where the child is. I give up.

cindi,

i heard about this case on tv, and i fear that the child is dead, and that she was killed by someone in the family.

needless to say, i hope i'm wrong, but i don't know what other plausible conclusions to draw--the circumstances surrounding the child's disappearance are suspicious, if not outright bizarre.

Opps- I forgot to post link. Iy's a piece on the Josef Fritzl case called the longest night all about him and how he locked his daughter up and his kids. I also read because some of the kids refuse to testify against him ( can't blame them for that), but their refusal will probably mean a lighter sentence for him.

ARGH!!!!
